PRIME MINISTER MR.MIZENGO KAYANZA PINDA RETURNS THE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION FORM.

Mr Mizengo Pinda the prime minister, yesterday returned his presidential nomination form, urging other 41 aspirants to be ready for the results, whether good or bad, since at the end of the day only one will suffice.
Speaking shortly after returning the documents at the party’s headquarters, the premier said that overconfidence by individual aspirants that they will be endorsed by the party as flag bearer during the October general election was not healthy.
“With such a situation where we are 42 aspirants vying for a single post, you either win or lose and people should be prepared for the results, as no one is guaranteed for presidency,” he cautioned.
Mr Pinda added that there is no need for hatred among aspirants since everyone is playing his/her cards in the race and it is only the Almighty God who knows the next Tanzanian president. “You cannot start hating people because they are supporting so and so.
Who said you have the right to be supported by everybody? Let people, at this stage go for an aspirant they believe is the best,” he said. Adding that, “When I hear aspirants saying, ‘if they won’t endorse me, things will not work,’ if screened, chances are you will be sick.
Let us be fair, to ourselves and the party.” Mr Pinda said that he will support the candidate who will be endorsed by CCM before urging others that the result should unite them rather than creating blocks within the party.
The sentiments were also shared by Bernard Membe, who said mature politicians should be prepared to accept any result since they are not independent candidates.
“Once vying for the ticket through any party, then you should know the rules of the game, you are in, and be ready for anything,” said Mr Membe.
“It is the party that will either endorse you as its candidate or screen you in the early stages and with such situation, we are 42, whereas only five need to sail through to the next round, so the majority will be left out,” he noted.
Adding, “When the winner is announced, you either thank the members for seconding you to the next round or thanking them for their cooperation, that is political maturity.”
